In Sept. 19th A.M., the 4th session of Shandong Provincial Committee of Urban and Rural Planning approved Jinan Historical and Cultural City Protection Plan. According to the document, Jinan will focus on the protection of cultural relics, historical buildings, spring scenes and intangible cultural heritages in historical urban areas, build 6 historical culture demonstration zones and 3 sightseeing routes. Together, cultural heritages and intangible cultural heritages will promote the protection over relics and the development of tourism.
As a national historical and cultural city, Jinan has unique natural scenery, substantial historical relics and profound cultural deposit. Since Sept. 2014, Jinan Historical and Cultural City Protection Plan had been examined by experts of the Committee of Urban and Rural Planning and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and approved by the CPC Jinan Municipal Committee.
Before it was submitted to Shandong Provincial Committee of Urban and Rural Planning, the draft of Jinan Historical and Cultural City Protection Plan received 19 suggestions from 22 provincial departments. The suggestions concerned themselves with the protection over the origin of springs, wetlands, revolutionary cultural heritages, the quota of historical urban areas, prevention and control of meteorological disasters and the integration of protecting renowned cities and promoting tourism, which had been implemented in sequence.
To better protect spring sceneries, Jinan Historical and Cultural City Protection Plan highlighted the protection of the spring areas, water recharging areas, exposure areas and the 11 types of spring cultural sceneries. The document proposed to protect the underground water storage, explore the exposure areas and artificial streams so as to find more famous spring heritages.
