Jinan Metro Line 3 officially opened for trial operation on Sept 28, becoming the first metro line with full 5G coverage in Shandong province.

The metro line, mostly located in the eastern part of the city, covers a distance of 21.6 kilometers and has a total of 13 stations, stretching from Longdong to Tantou. The average distance between stations is about 1.7 kilometers.

The line connects several important locations such as the Jinan Olympic Sports Center, Jinan International Finance City, Jinan Area of the Shandong Pilot Free Trade Zone and Jinan East Railway Station.

Every station is designed with distinctive elements which showcase the city's history and culture, including scenes of Longdong scenic spot, spring culture and traditional industrial elements. 3D facial recognition technology has also been adopted by the metro line.

Jinan Metro Line 3 will greatly improve urban functionality, save space and alleviate traffic congestion.

Officials said the metro line will have a three-month unmanned trial operation, according to relevant regulations. Before commercial operation, three to five days of free entry will be offered to the public.
