Jinan's artificial intelligence industry has seen strong development over the past few years, and AI-related industries in the city now have a combined value of around 60 billion yuan ($8.93 billion), the local government reported at a news conference on Oct 12.
A total of 15,000 5G base stations had been built and 11,000 had begun operating in the city by the end of September. The city's main urban area is now fully covered by a 5G network. The northern center of China Unicom's 5G core networks has also been launched in Jinan.
Furthermore, the Jinan government is planning to introduce policies targeting network construction, demonstration application, industrial innovation, and talent training to further promote 5G innovation.
The city also plans to offer at least 100 million yuan every year to support the development of the industrial internet, and the city is currently home to nearly 1,000 industrial internet enterprises. Twelve of China's top companies in the field, such as Huawei Technologies Co, CASI Cloud, and Root Cloud, have begun operating in Jinan.
In addition, Jinan has formed a complete artificial intelligence industrial chain that includes basic support, core technology, and industrial application. The industrial chain includes more than 100 large-scale enterprises.
Jinan is home to many advanced products in the fields of intelligent manufacturing, intelligent network connected vehicles, intelligent robots, intelligent medicine, intelligent transportation, and smart cities. A total of 107 AI projects have been designated as Shandong provincial pilot demonstration projects.
The city also boasts 10 large-scale Internet big data centers with 30,612 service racks. Construction on the National Health Medical Data North Center, the Blue Sea Pilot Big Data Center, and the Jinan Yellow River Big Data Center is currently being accelerated. The CITIC Network Data Center will be established in Jinan as well.
Moving forward, the local government plans to promote the construction of additional infrastructure, strengthen support for, and optimize the environment for industrial development.
