The Jigang Central Forest Park project is expected to start construction in Jigang area, Jinan, capital of Shandong province, local media reported.

The 449,200-square-meter park has a green coverage rate of 86.33 percent, making it a core ecological area.

The Jigang area, which used to house the traditional steel industry in Jinan, is expected to be transformed into a modern ecological urban area within the next few years while still maintaining its traditional industrial architectures.

The total planned land area of the Jigang area, which is located 10 kilometers away from the Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport and the Jinan Pioneer Area, will be 10.49 square kilometers.

The Jigang Central Forest Park is designed to become the ecological center of the area and will provide local residents a place to enjoy nature.
