Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province unveiled a plan on promoting ecological protection and high-quality development of Yellow River basin at a conference on July 23.
A series of major ecological protection projects will be launched to strengthen cooperation among cities in the upper, middle, and lower reaches of the Yellow River basin.
More efforts will also be made to protect the wetlands alongside Qihe River and the Yellow River, as well as the environment around Dongping Lake in Tai'an city and the Yellow River Delta basin.
Jinan plans to develop a national supercomputing cloud center for big data and the environment to promote more intelligent management, which will benefit cities and provinces along the Yellow River.
The city will also work to reinforce embankments, renovate rivers, and clear mudflats along the Yellow River to strengthen its flood prevention and control capacity.
To better preserve the rich cultural heritage items in the Yellow River basin, Jinan will strengthen cultural cooperation with provinces and cities along the Yellow River and launch a series of Yellow River culture projects to promote its inhabitation and development.
