Sun Shutao, mayor of Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, met with Roland Schoorl, executive vice-president of Electricite De France (EDF), on Aug 6 in Jinan, local media reported.

Sun said at the meeting that as a Fortune 500 company, EDF is globally competitive in nuclear energy, thermal energy, water, electricity, renewable energy sources, and energy services, while Jinan benefits from a favorable location, strong industrial foundation, and promising development prospects.

In March this year, EDF signed a cooperation agreement with Jinan Energy Group Co Ltd on central cooling for the Jinan Central Business District.

He expressed hope that both sides will work to begin the cooling project as soon as possible.

The mayor also encouraged EDF to take advantage of its strength in nuclear energy and new energy power generation to work with Jinan in developing charging stations for electric vehicles, integrated energy services, and central cooling. He also promised to offer convenient services and a strong business environment.

Schoorl said that EDF will contribute to the development of Jinan and expressed hope for long-term and steady cooperation relationship with Jinan.
