Sister city Marmaris, Turkey
Located in southwest Turkey's Mugla province, Marmaris is a port city and tourist resort on the Mediterranean coast. Set at the end of the bay and backed by cypress-lined mountains, Marmaris is a charming coastal city and an ideal place for water sports and sailing. It is the starting point for the "Blue Tour" around the Aegean coast.
Marmaris' main source of income is tourism. The city's population is about 50,000 and peaks at around 300,000 to 400,000 people during the tourist season. Possessing two major and several smaller marinas, Marmaris is an important center for sailing. It is a popular winter destination for hundreds of cruising boaters, with regular ferries traveling between the Greek island of Rhodes and ports where large cruise ships are docked.
Marmaris established sister city ties with Jinan, capital city of East China's Shandong province in October 2011.
