National intangible cultural heritage: Zhangqiu xinzi
english.jinan.gov.cn2021-12-13

Zhangqiu xinzi is a traditional form of juggling that originated in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). To banish evil spirits and pray for fortune, boys and girls dressed up as gods and stood on a table or a shelf. The folk art consists of acrobatics, makeup, and costumes.

Zhangqiu xinzi was included as part of the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage projects in 2008.
