​Jinan hopes more cooperation with Japanese logistics giant

Sun Licheng, Party secretary of Jinan, Shandong province met with Sugiyama Tatsuo, executive director of Japanese logistics giant Nippon Express and also president of Nippon Express (China) Co on Feb 25.

Sun spoke of the high-quality development of Jinan in recent years and expressed hope that the two sides will further deepen cooperation in logistics.

The GDP of Jinan surpassed 1 trillion yuan ($154.6 billion) in 2020, a year when the city saw thriving development in new generation information technology, intelligent manufacturing and high-end equipment industries. With geographical advantages and convenient transportation, Jinan enjoys a good foundation in logistics.

Sugiyama said that Jinan possesses great potential for business development. "We will set up a branch in Jinan and give full play to our advantages to promote the city's development and encourage more Japanese enterprises to invest and do business in the city," he said.

Headquartered in Tokyo, Nippon Express is the largest logistics services company in Japan with 242 offices in 33 countries. The company aims to provide one-stop business solutions by integrating different modes of transport throughout the world.
