The city has also cultivated a batch of renowned agricultural brands, including Zhangqiu green onions and Laiwu gingers, both of which were included on a list of national regional public brands.

Jinan also invested nearly 10 billion yuan in improving the living environment for villagers. It has developed 284 beautiful rural demonstration villages at the provincial and municipal levels and helped more than 670,000 rural households renovate toilets. The coverage of sewage treatment in rural areas has exceeded 45 percent.

The city also set goals for future development. For example, the per capita disposable income of rural residents is expected to increase by 9 percent in 2021.

In addition, the city will foster 10 industrial clusters – each valued at 10 billion yuan – that are related to the rural tourism, modern grain and oil, and modern planting industries, as well as establish headquarters of agro-related enterprises at home and abroad. The city is expected to be home to 100 provincial-level leading agricultural enterprises by 2025.
