
Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province will further put forward water resource protection and management in next five years to build into a water-saving model city in China.
The city will speed up the construction of 17 sewage treatment facilities to promote the diversion of rain water and sewage in urban areas. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.
The construction of Ddongjia, Caishi and the international medical center sewage treatment plants will be completed in 2021. By 2025, the sewage treatment capacity of Jinan's urban area will reach more than 1.7 million tons and has a complete urban sewerage system
For ecological management, the city will build an ecological corridor for green development along the Dawen River, and promote landscape construction of rivers and lakes such as the Yudai River, Langxi River, Beisha River, and the Baiyun Lake.
In recent years, Jinan has made significant results in spring water projection and the application of spring water as a world heritage site.
The authorities tried to integrate regional spring water protection and urban water system utilization, which highlights the ancient city's wisdom in promoting sustainable development and initiatives in water environment treatment and utilization.
The city's unique spring water landscape covers a host of evocative water features in gardens, dwellings and lakes and other features that spread across the city. The landscape was included on the preliminary list of UNESCO world cultural heritage sites in 2019.
Furthermore, the city also attaches much attention on protecting historical areas and spring water landscape. It is expected to complete the city's upgrading projects for 166 spring landscape sites. The city will host a series of international conference focusing on spring water culture to expand the influence of spring water.
