
The GDP of Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, totaled 519.88 billion yuan ($80.44 billion) in the first half of the year, with a year-on-year growth of 13.8 percent, according to the city's statistics bureau.
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the city's average annual GDP growth for the past two years reached 5.5 percent, said authorities.
In the first half of 2021, the added value of the city's primary industry reached 19.17 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 4.3 percent and a two-year average growth of 2.7 percent.
The added value of its secondary industry stood at 170.98 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 9.2 percent and an average growth of 5.6 percent over the past two years.
In addition, the added value of its tertiary industry was 329.73 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 11.6 percent and a two-year average growth of 5.5 percent.
The city's added value of industries above designated size increased by 14.9 percent during this period. From January to May, the revenue of service enterprises above designated size increased by 36 percent. In the first half of this year, the city's general public budget revenue reached 60.05 billion yuan, up 19.3 percent.
Jinan has made progress in promoting the transformation of old growth drivers to new ones in the first half of this year. The city has developed 76 provincial-level demonstration projects for the 5G industry. In addition, the online retail sales of new energy vehicles increased by 81.2 percent.
Over the first half of the year, the "Qilu" China-Europe freight trains had 378 trips, up 35.5 percent year-on-year. The value of the export and import commodities transported via the route reached 3.89 billion yuan, up 76.4 percent year-on-year.
