The city of Eger, capital of Heves county, is located in the northern part of Hungary. The city is renowned for its grape planting and wine making. Eger's machine manufacturing, motorcycles, furniture, tobacco and food processing industries are also flourishing. The city has historical sites such as palaces built in the 18th century and ruins of medieval fortresses.

Jinan established friendly cooperative city ties with Eger in 2018. Officials said that the two sides have great cooperation potential in the fields of culture, tourism, and grape growing.
