Jinan's Shizhong district has made progressed greatly in economic growth and social development over the past decade, making its on way to become a district with strong vitality and quality, local officials said.

Shizhong's GDP doubled in the past 10 years, surging from 55.85 billion yuan ($7.76 billion) in 2012 to 116.17 billion yuan in 2021. With increasing growth economic strength, it was named as "China's top 100 district for high-quality development" and "China's top 100 innovation district".

The district has been working to update the old urban areas, promote new urban area construction, and vitalize rural development. All of 447 old residential areas were renovated and upgraded, with a total area of about 9.71 million square meters, ranking the first in the city.

People's livelihood in the district improved greatly, the per capita disposable income of residents has nearly doubled from 34,356 yuan 10 years ago to 64,728 yuan. The district has completed poverty alleviation two years ahead of schedule with 784 people lift out of poverty.
