Gangcheng district in Jinan, Shandong province has made great strides in its all-round development over the past decade, local officials said.

In 2021, the region's GDP reached 33.83 billion yuan ($4.7 billion), which is 1.6 times that the total in 2012, and the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached 48,000 yuan and 23,000 yuan, respectively, amounting to 1.6 times and 2.1 times the figures in 2012.

Policies, including 33 industrial policies have been introduced to promote the intelligent and green transformation of enterprises, and encourage enterprises to expand their production capacities. There were 31 projects selected as key provincial projects in 2021.

Profound changes are happening in the district during the past decade. The first urban high-speed railway in the city, Jinan-Laiwu High-speed Railway, started construction in September 2019 and recently began trial operations, and more than 10 waterways have been cleared and the green coverage rate has reached 46.5 percent.

More than 300 in-depth environmental management projects have been implemented, and the air quality rate has reached 83.3 percent.

Gangcheng has developed 17 leading agricultural enterprises and more than 1,000 farmers' professional cooperatives and family farms to reach its goal of rural vitalization.

In recent years, more than 80 percent of the fiscal expenditures have been used to protect and improve people's livelihood and 4,259 impoverished individuals have been lifted out of poverty.
