Jinan hosts online activities during May Day holiday

As the latest COVID-19 outbreak has affected two thirds of provincial-level regions in China, Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, hosted more than 70 online cultural activities to enrich people's lives during the five-day Labor Day holiday.

Jinan Library provided free e-book reading service via its WeChat mini-program in which more than 38,000 volumes in more than 30 categories were available including literature, history, art, science and technology. It was used by 480,000 people.

Online activities such as the reading recital contest and the storytelling contest were also popular among citizens, becoming interactive ways for people to spend leisure time at home.

Jinan Cultural Center has launched a series of online exhibitions covering intangible cultural heritages and art courses that attracted nearly 20,000 viewers.

Jinan Peking Opera Theater staged a series of classic drama items via online channels including Li Qingzhao, Xin Qiji, and Deng Enming, which attracted more than 3.6 million viewers.
