Thirty-one of Jinan's local brands were included in the first batch of the Shandong excellent product list, placing first among cities in Shandong in terms of the total number.

These brands come from fields including the new generation of information technology, high-end chemicals, high-end equipment and manufacturing such as Sinotruk, Inspur, Shengquan Group, Bloomage Biotech and Joyoung, as well as local delicacies and agro-product brands such as Fupai ejiao (donkey-hide gelatin) and Laiwu ginger.

Since the State Council approved the establishment of the "Chinese Brands Day" in 2017, brand awareness has been widely increased among the public and branding has become strategically important for the nation. It bears significance in not only for the transformation of the manufacturing industry, but also for upgrading the consumption structure.

According to an official, Shandong has established an improved incentive mechanism for trustworthiness and a punishment mechanism for dishonesty in order to enhance the brand reputation and competitiveness of "Shandong Good Products".
