Lixia district has made great efforts to build Jinan into a city with global clout, according to a news briefing held in Jinan on Aug 22.

The news briefing was held before the 20th CPC National Congress, focusing on achievements that Jinan has made in building a strong provincial capital.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress, Lixia district has topped the comprehensive evaluation of high-quality development list for 14 consecutive years.

The local gross domestic product has increased from 83.7 billion yuan ($12.2 billion) in 2012 to 212.4 billion yuan in 2021. The general budget revenue has surged from 7.42 billion yuan to 16.85 billion yuan in 2021.

Financial institutes amounted to 720 in Lixia district in 2021, up nearly 500 from that in 2012. The added value of the financial industry reached 43.8 billion yuan in 2021, accounting for 44.2 percent of the city's total.

Over the past 10 years, Lixia district has implemented 259 projects worth more than 100 million yuan each.

The district has also deepened the reform of delegating power, improving regulations and upgrading services. The business environment has ranked first in the province.

Meanwhile, Lixia district has given top priority to environmental protection. The optimal level of air quality has been reached, and the water quality of major rivers has surpassed standards.

A national ecological civilization demonstration zone has been established in the district, and the people's overall satisfaction index in the district has been rising over time.

Urban regions in the district have seen a combined increase of 542,000 new jobs, and the unemployment rate in urban areas has remained under 3 percent.
