Eleven Jinan-based enterprises are made the 2022 Top 500 Chinese Enterprises list which was released recently, highlighting the city's booming manufacturing industry over the past two years.

The list was made based on the operating income of enterprises. Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, ranked eighth in China in terms of the number of listed companies.

In addition, eight firms of Jinan also made the list of China's top 500 manufacturing enterprises which was released at the same time.

Founded in 1958, Jinan Iron & Steel Group was listed on both lists this year. The company was on the verge of going bankrupt, when it shut down its 6.5-million-ton-capacity steel production factories in 2017. After five years of transformation, the company has succeeded in regaining its position on the lists. In the first half of this year, the company's revenue exceeded 21 billion yuan ($2.99 billion).

Shandong Electrical Engineering & Equipment Group Co, which was included in the list of China's top 500 manufacturing enterprises, provided clean power solutions, related equipment, and power supply services for nine venues during Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. With its advanced technology, the company has demonstrated its strength and taken the responsibility in Shandong province to provide strong support for the construction of key national electrical projects.

In recent years, Jinan has implemented strategies to strengthen industrial and digital economy development and the city's manufacturing also has made rapid development. In 2021, Jinan are ranked among China's top 100 cities in terms of the strength of advanced manufacturing industry and the city's scale of intelligent manufacturing and high-end equipment industry reached 421.9 billion yuan.
