A Cambodian-style garden in Jinan, Shandong province was officially opened to the public on April 6, signifying the friendly cooperative ties between Jinan and Siem Reap province in Cambodia.

Covering an area of 256 square meters, the garden showcases Cambodian culture, civilization, art, and magnificent Khmer architecture from the Angkor period (802-1431).

Sam Sorphom, Consul General of Cambodia in Jinan, said at the garden's opening ceremony that the garden will help boost exchanges and communication between Siem Reap and Jinan.

Jinan and Siem Reap province began friendly exchanges and cooperation in 2014, and in 2020, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Jinan was established in Jinan, becoming the first foreign consular office to be established in the city after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, said Yang Li, vice-mayor of Jinan.

As this year marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia, Yang also said that she expects both countries to deepen cooperation in various areas and jointly contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative and a shared future.
