Located in the northern part of Jinan, Tianqiao district straddles both banks of the Yellow River. It shares its borders with Lixia district, Licheng district, Shizhong district, Huaiyin district, Jiyang district of Jinan, and Qihe county of Dezhou.

Tianqiao district offers easy access to famous scenic spots and tourist destinations such as Mount Tai, Qufu, Qingdao, Weifang, and Yantai. The district houses major transportation hubs like Jinan Coach Station, Jinan Railway Station Square Coach Station, and Jinan Coach Center Station. Jinan Railway Station is situated at the district's southern end, where the Qingdao-Jinan and Tianjin-Pukou Railways intersect. The Yellow River and Xiaoqing River flow through Tianqiao district.

The district is home to modern industrial parks like Jinan New Materials Industry Zone and Yaoshan Science and Technology Park, which hold immense potential for development.

Tianqiao district has a warm temperate continental monsoon climate, characterized by distinct seasons - a hot summer and a cold winter. January is the coldest month, while July is the hottest.

In 2023, the district achieved a regional GDP of 76.56 billion yuan ($10.65 billion), with an increase of 6.3 percent over the previous year.
