Jinan advances sustainable waste management
In recent years, Jinan has accelerated the development of waste management infrastructure, establishing five solid waste incineration power plants throughout the city in accordance with the urban layout.
These facilities process over 8,000 metric tons of waste daily and generate approximately 850 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, effectively turning trash in to treasure.
Going forward, Jinan's urban management system will continue to uphold the principles of green, low-carbon, and circular development. Efforts will focus on optimizing technological processes and enhancing environmental protection standards to ensure that all operational metrics meet or exceed national environmental requirements. This will promote effective waste reduction, resource recovery, and harmless waste disposal.
Additionally, the city will coordinate the management of various waste streams, including municipal solid waste, construction debris, and kitchen waste. By leveraging existing incineration power projects, Jinan plans to explore the development of zero-waste circular parks, which will seamlessly integrate waste management with ecological restoration and resource utilization.
This initiative aims to facilitate collaborative waste management in landfills in order to contribute to the sustainable development of the city.
