Jinan is the culturally rich capital of East China's Shandong province and also the birthplace of the legendary traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) figure Bian Que.

In recent years, Jinan has made significant advancements in TCM inheritance and innovation. This progress has provided strong support for TCM development nationwide.

By establishing a comprehensive TCM service system, Jinan has optimized the allocation and efficient use of medical resources. The city has made notable strides in both the breadth and depth of TCM services, from the layout of tertiary TCM hospitals to widespread lower-level service points, and from the establishment of "Bian Que National Medical Hall" to health clinics in TCM-themed villages.

Jinan's pharmaceutical research and development capabilities are among the best in the country. Of its over 3,000 TCM enterprises, 13 are above a designated scale and two have annual sales exceeding 1 billion yuan ($140.05 million), and the city also produces six TCM products with sales over 100 million yuan.

Jinan excels in both preserving and innovating TCM practices. It attracts top talents and teams in the field, while also exploring smart TCM service models, such as developing a cloud HIS system and intelligent diagnosis tools for private clinics.

The city promotes TCM culture through collaborations with institutions like Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Jinan Academy of Social Sciences. It hosts events and activities to ensure TCM education reaches children of all ages through various initiatives.

Looking ahead, Jinan will continue to enhance TCM service capabilities, strengthen lower-level support, and foster collaboration between TCM and Western medicine. Jinan is making sure its TCM industry is contributing to the well-being of its community.
