Seventy-three key projects in Jinan with a total investment of 123.3 billion yuan ($17.13 billion), along with other major projects across Shandong province, commenced construction in the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation on Feb 26.

This year, Jinan has continued its efforts to achieve breakthroughs in projects, accelerating the promotion of green, low-carbon, and high-quality development. To date, the city has planned 2,000 major projects with a total investment of 2.66 trillion yuan, with an annual planned investment of 348.8 billion yuan. These projects are expected to empower Jinan's high-quality development.

Jinan is focusing on serving major strategies, highlighting key areas such as the start-up area and the international medical center, and expediting the planning of a number of exemplary and leading large-scale projects. Meanwhile, attention is being paid to cutting-edge industries and advanced technologies, targeting leading and key industrial chains and planning more high-quality projects.

Jinan has also bolstered efforts to improve its services and optimize its business environment in order to better support the smooth progress of the projects.

Statistics showed that in 2023, investment in projects worth over 100 million yuan in Jinan increased by 15.1 percent compared to the previous year, contributing to an-8.7-percentage point growth in overall city investment. Specifically, investments in projects worth over 1 billion yuan increased by 31.6 percent year-on-year, driving an 11.5-percentage point growth in overall city investment.
