Jinan students win big at Chinese Girls' Mathematical Olympiad
Jinan students gave a remarkable showing at the 23rd Chinese Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (CGMO), which was recently held in Chongqing, Southwest China. Liu Sitong from Jinan Zhensheng School and Ji Ruoyu from Shandong Experimental High School won first prizes, while Zhang Hanxiao from Jinan Zhangqiu No 4 Middle School secured a second prize.
The two-day event welcomed 156 contestants from China and Singapore. A total of four students from Shandong province participated, three of whom were from Jinan, winning two gold medals and one silver.
The China Girls Mathematical Olympiad (CGMO) is a mathematics competition specifically designed for female students. First held in 2002, the event takes place every year in mid-August and has been held 22 times to date. The competition has attracted top female math talents from both China and abroad, making a significant impact on the global mathematics community.
