Jinan sees tourism boom during Mid-Autumn Festival holiday
Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, saw a boom in tourism during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Sept 15 to 17.
According to statistics from the Jinan municipal bureau of culture and tourism, as of Sept 17, 30 key scenic spots monitored in the city saw nearly 1.18 million visits by tourists during the holiday, generating a revenue totaling 33.44 million yuan ($4.71 million).
Tourism integrating traditional Chinese culture is gaining in popularity during the holidays. Travelers are drawn to activities such as exploring classical gardens, experiencing flower-adorned headwear and hanfu, visiting aesthetic markets and art spaces, and engaging in cultural heritage research.
Jinan Fantawild Oriental Heritage hosted a folk culture festival to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, attracting a large number of visitors. Meanwhile, Daming Lake and the city moat featured traditional boat performances, providing visitors with the opportunity to experience spring culture and moonlit views over the city moat.
Short-distance tours to the city's countryside have also become popular. Paomaling Scenic Spot welcomed 10,200 visits by tourists during the three-day holiday, attracting many families with its natural scenery. Mountainous areas like Lingyan Temple, Wufeng Mountain, and Jiangjun Mountain are particularly favored by college students for the unique experiences they offer.
Nighttime tours also saw a boom during the holiday, with a large number of activities launched, such as the moon worship ceremony at the Impression Jinan Spring World commercial block, the intangible cultural heritage market at the Baihuazhou Historical and Cultural Block, and the performances featuring traditional musical instruments at the Chaoran Pavilion.
