The newly-renovated and upgraded Baihuazhou Historical and Cultural Block in Jinan opened to the public on April 18.

The district is located on the south side of Minghu Road, stretching from Quanlefang in the east to Qushuiting Street in the west and to Houzaimen Street in the south, covering a total area of 5.6 hectares.

The renovated block combines intangible cultural heritage with commerce, featuring three main public venues: a traditional craft workshop, a public aesthetic space at Baihua opera tower, and a folk museum. These venues are open for visitors to explore and host various cultural events.

The Baihuazhou market is a must-visit. Various stalls offer a dazzling array of goods, from handicrafts and creative accessories to authentic snacks and trendy drinks.

Qianmo Bookstore, known as the most beautiful bookstore in Shandong, has opened a trendy, youth-focused branch at Baihuazhou.

Creative ice-cream, such as bazirou (a kind of fatty pork fillet), has become popular among visitors to the block.

In front of Baixue Pavilion, renowned traditional opera masters and emerging cross-talk comedians give traditional Chinese performances for visitors, who can enjoy a cup of tea made by local spring water as they watch the performances.

There is also a Shandong-style pastry shop called Ounuo for those looking to buy some exquisite cakes and pastries as souvenirs.
