Jinan advances public cultural facilities with new plan

The Jinan Public Cultural Facilities Special Plan (2023-2035) was approved and released by the local government as part of the city's efforts to offer a more efficient, equitable, and sustainable public cultural services for local residents, according to a news conference on Aug 29.

The plan has 10 chapters, clarifying specific strategies for the development of public cultural facilities in Jinan. It outlines the overall layout for the construction of museums, new cultural facilities, urban reading rooms, and heritage sites. The plan incorporates the concept of 15-minute living circles, providing public cultural facilities at the subdistrict and community or village levels within a 15-minute walk from people's homes.

Jinan currently boasts 13 public libraries at both municipal and county levels, along with 13 cultural centers. There are 161 comprehensive cultural stations distributed across townships and subdistricts. Additionally, the city has established 53 Quancheng Study reading rooms and 70 Quancheng cultural stations, which have become a new cultural trademark for Jinan.
