Jinan of East China's Shandong province has focused on bringing global cultures to the city while sharing its own charm with the world.

Jinan has established nine sister-city gardens with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiatives, sharing its iconic spring water culture with the world. The city has also expanded its international network with five new sister cities, including Novi Sad in Serbia and Monterrey in Mexico, bringing the total to 92.

Jinan strengthens ties with cities along the world's rose cultivation belt, including Kazanlak, Bulgaria, and Kozármisleny, Hungary, through its rich rose culture. The city has also proposed the creation of the "Rose Seven" alliance to promote international collaboration in rose cultivation.

Jinan's approach emphasizes co-creation, with local gardens designed by sister cities and overseas gardens crafted by Jinan. The 5,000-square-meter Jinan Garden in Rennes, France opened in 2024 as a symbol bilateral cooperation.

Future plans include building friendship gardens in Jinan with cities such as Bath of United Kingdom, Civitavecchia of Italy, and Wakayama of Japan, while also expanding Jinan-themed gardens overseas. By enriching these cultural landmarks, Jinan aims to enhance its global influence and foster deeper international understanding.

These gardens have become vital bridges, reflecting Jinan's commitment to sharing its heritage and continuing global friendships.
