The first-phase of Aiko's photovoltaic base in Jinan commenced production at the beginning of this year, marking a major step in solar module production.

The facility produces N-type ABC (All Back Contact) solar cells and modules, which have a conversion efficiency of 27.2 percent. The modules have reached a mass-production efficiency of 24.6 percent and, as of May, had topped the global module efficiency ranking for 26 consecutive months, according to the company.

Designed as a zero-carbon intelligent plant, the Jinan base features fully digitalized and intelligent workshops for both solar cells and modules. It runs entirely on green electricity, recycles over 90 percent of its water, and recovers more than 30 percent of waste heat.

The base enables the integrated production of solar cells and modules on a single production line stretching 1.5 kilometers. Its semiconductor-factory-inspired layout enables high production efficiency and significant energy savings.

The base further enhances efficiency through automated, customized lean production, along with continuous equipment and process optimization. Advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, support intelligent management across the facility.

The Jinan base is projected to reach a total production capacity of 30 gigawatts for N-type ABC solar cells and modules, with the first-phase project scaled at 10 gigawatts. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to attract top-tier talent and contribute to local economic development.
