Shandong's first Yellow River-crossing tram line launched in Jinan
Jiyang Line entered service on Dec 30, marking a new milestone in Jinan's urban rail network. Following the recent openings of Jinan Metro Line 4, Line 8, and the eastern section of Line 6, this line expands the city's multi-modal rail network to a distance of more than 248 kilometers.
Stretching 36.1 km with 11 stations, the line runs from Jinandong Railway Station to Jiyang North Station, passing key landmarks including the Yellow River Fenghuang Bridge, the Yellow River Sports Center, and the Yellow River International Convention and Exhibition Center.
Linking Licheng district, the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation, and Jiyang district, the line significantly improves commuting efficiency and is expected to accelerate regional development.
Jiyang Line is Jinan's first tram project and Shandong province's first tram line to cross the Yellow River. Operating on a dedicated right-of-way, the trams are fully electric, and offer higher passenger capacity than conventional buses.
