JNU academics join global top scientists list
US-based website and analytics platform ScholarGPS has published its 2024 list of the World's Top 0.05% Scientists.
Four scholars were selected from the University of Jinan, or JNU – whose main campus is located in the Shizhong district of Jinan city, in East China's Shandong province.
The quartet are Hu Xun, Yang Pin, Yuan Changzhou (a PhD supervisor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering) and Wei Qin (a PhD supervisor at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering).
ScholarGPS, which compiles profiles of over 30 million scholars globally – along with extensive data on papers, patents and books – uses AI, data mining and machine learning to analyze research output, influence (through citations, excluding self-citations) and the quality of papers.
It ranks the performance of scholars and institutions across 14 fields, 177 disciplines and more than 350,000 specialties.
In the 2024 rankings, over 200 scholars from mainland China were included in the "Lifetime" list, while more than 1,000 were included in the "Prior Five Years" list.
