The giant panda, "Yaji", celebrated its 11th birthday on May 25 at the Jinan Zoo in the capital city of East China's Shandong province. The zoo's staff, student volunteers, and visitors came together to create a unique and special birthday party.

The front of the giant panda enclosure was bustling with excitement. Staff members crafted a colorful arch made of rattan, flowers, and vibrant balloons, with the words "Happy Birthday" shining brightly in the sunlight.

The staff prepared a bamboo tank and a special small stool for "Yaji", each filled with love and care. The specially made birthday cake for the giant panda was created using fresh bamboo shoots, carrots, and a bamboo base, carefully layered and stacked to perfection.

Following the birthday celebrations, students engaged in a note-taking activity, guided by conservationists to observe the panda's eating habits, climbing behaviors, and more, using their brushes to record and promote the ecological concept of "observation is conservation."

"Yaji", a male giant panda, was born on May 26, 2014, at the Bifengxia Giant Panda Base in Ya'an, Southwest China's Sichuan province. In September 2017, he moved to the Jinan Zoo and has become popular among Jinan residents.
