Jinan sees steady economic growth in Jan-May

Jinan, capital of Shandong province, experienced steady economic growth from January to May, according to data released by the city's bureau of statistics.

During the period, the added value of industries above designated size in the city increased by 8.2 percent year-on-year. Equipment manufacturing and high-tech sectors showed strong performance, rising by 25.8 percent and 23.4 percent respectively, led by rapid growth in electronics and automotive manufacturing.

The service sector remained stable, with enterprises above designated size posting a 5.2 percent year-on-year increase in revenue through April. Key contributions came from transport, logistics, and leasing services, with the latter growing 15.1 percent year-on-year.

Public budget revenue reached 524 billion yuan ($73 billion), a year-on-year increase of 1.5 percent from January to May. Financial institutions saw loan and deposit balances grow by 10.5 percent and 7.3 percent, respectively.

In the first five months, the city's consumer price index rose by a moderate 0.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Foreign trade amounted to 997.7 billion yuan, marking a 21.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
