Jinan highlights reading culture at 33rd National Book Expo
The 33rd National Book Expo was held in Chongqing in Southwest China from July 25 to 28, where the Jinan publishing delegation made an impressive showing with rich offerings and cultural depth.
Jinan Publishing House, a key player in the city's publishing scene, showcased 1,200 selected titles spanning literature, art, history, culture, science education, and lifestyle. Designed to appeal to readers of all ages and interests, the selection reflected both diversity and quality.
Beyond book displays, Jinan Publishing House organized a series of exciting activities, including book launches, reading salons, and meet-the-author sessions. These interactive moments offered readers insight into the creative process and enriched their engagement with literature.
Jinan's specialty bookstores also stood out at the expo. Qianmo Bookstore set up a booth in the featured bookstore section, presenting books and cultural products that capture the essence of Jinan, with the aim of promoting both reading and local culture.
Meanwhile, Xiangshufang Bookstore, Shandong's first writer-founded bookstore, was awarded "Most Beautiful Bookstore of the Year" during the Physical Bookstore Innovation Conference on July 26. It offers more than just reading services – it provides immersive cultural experiences like exhibitions, forums and cultural products.
This recognition not only highlights Jinan's commitment to fostering a strong reading culture but also reflects the city's deep regard for physical bookstores as cultural landmarks and spiritual beacons.
