Jinan opens river-sea route to Nigeria
A container ship loaded with textiles was assembled and loaded onto ships at Jinan Port in Jinan, Shandong province on Aug 10.
The ship will travel along the Xiaoqing River to Weifang Port before being transferred to Nigeria's Apapa Port for further processing at the local industrial park.
This transport is the second "river-sea" combined foreign trade route launched by Jinan Port following the opening of a route to Chittagong, Bangladesh, this year.
Since the beginning of this year, Jinan Port, operated by the Shandong Marine Group, has leveraged its strategic location and scale to strengthen connections between upstream and downstream markets and expand its inland river container services. It has launched new foreign trade container liner routes and introduced 15 new types of cargo, including molasses, refractory bricks, water reducers and grain, to its container shipping portfolio, promoting the green transition of inland waterways from bulk to container shipping.
In the future, Jinan Port will make full use of its intermodal transportation advantages, continue to expand its container services and strengthen coordination with ports along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, contributing to the development of Shandong's transportation network.
