Jinan ranks among top short-distance travel destinations
Jinan has emerged as one of the top eight short-distance travel destinations this summer, thanks to its rich spring culture and strategic location, according to Ctrip's 2025 Summer Travel Market Report.
This summer, hotel bookings in Jinan increased 8 percent year-on-year. The city attracted tourists primarily from Shandong province and nearby regions, including cities of Beijing and Tianjin, and Hebei province. Among them, visitors from Qingdao and Weifang accounted for over 40 percent, while the top five source cities were Beijing, Qingdao, Weifang, Shanghai, and Yantai. This highlights Jinan's strong appeal for short-distance travel.
Family-friendly travel has become a major trend during this year's vacation season. Popular destinations for families in Jinan include Jinan Fangte Oriental Heritage, Baotu Spring Park, and Daming Lake, which combine traditional culture with immersive experiences, attracting a large number of tourists.
Meanwhile, self-driving tours and car rentals are on rise, offering greater flexibility and easier access to nearby scenic sites.
With abundant cultural tourism offering and a convenient location, Jinan continues to attract tourists from surrounding cities and is expected to play a key role in driving the growth of cultural tourism in Shandong province.
