Song-style night fair brings ancient charm to Jinan
A cultural fair inspired by traditional Song Dynasty (960-1279) culture is drawing crowds at Chaoran Pavillion in Jinan.
The fair, taking place from July 25 to Aug 8, includes a series of cultural interaction activities, offering an immersive experience of traditional Chinese life, art, and entertainment.
Visitors can walk down lantern-lit streets, dress in hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing), and take part in activities such as pitch-pot, fan-making, poetry games, and calligraphy.
A popular highlight allows guests to create mini poems using stickers or challenge actors in costume to friendly poetry duels – with small gifts awarded to winners.
The fair also features creative workshops where participants craft scented sachets, paint fans, and play ancient games.
