Jinan embraces technologies to build smarter transportation
Jinan is accelerating its transition to a smarter transportation system by integrating artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and low-altitude technologies into transportation services and infrastructure management, improving both operational efficiency and travel safety.
The city's metro network is supported by an integrated command center for train scheduling, passenger flow monitoring, passenger services, and emergency response. In addition, an AI-powered platform combines self-service ticketing, travel assistance, and intelligent video analytics, enabling it to detect incidents such as overcrowding and passenger falls within seconds.
The city is also expanding the use of low-altitude technologies. Its digital flight service platform supports flight planning, traffic management and regulatory oversight, while intelligent route planning, high-precision positioning and multi-drone operations enable drones to carry out road inspections, traffic management, and environmental monitoring more efficiently.
Meanwhile, smart technologies are strengthening infrastructure maintenance. A digital monitoring platform oversees 28 bridges, 16 tunnels, and 18 utility corridors through nearly 3,900 intelligent sensors, supplemented by robotic and drone inspections. A total of 1,406 surveillance cameras feed into a visual command system that supports emergency management and response.
