Spring landscapes in Jinan host immersive festival celebrations
Jinan's major scenic areas will launch a series of cultural and tourism activities for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, offering visitors a blend of traditional celebrations, folk customs, and interactive experiences.
The activities will span four of the city's most iconic attractions – Baotu Spring, Daming Lake, Wulongtan Park, and Huancheng Park, starting from June 18.
A highlight of the celebrations will be the 25th Minghu dragon boat invitational tournament on June 19, which will bring together professional teams from Shandong province and beyond. Races on Daming Lake will be accompanied by cultural exhibitions and viewing activities along the lakeshore, creating a festive atmosphere for residents and tourists alike.
Beyond the competition, visitors will be able to take part in a variety of traditional cultural activities. At Baixue Tower in the Baotu Spring scenic area, visitors can try their hands at making zongzi (glutinous rice with fillings), while programs at the Li Qingzhao (1084–1155) Memorial Hall will combine classical poetry appreciation with interactive experiences.
The celebrations will also feature themed fairs across the four scenic areas through early July, offering cultural displays, local delicacies, and creative cultural products. The events aim to showcase Jinan's cultural heritage while enriching the holiday experience for visitors.
