Jinan hosts 5th talent attraction conference to build global talent hub
The fifth China (Jinan) High-Caliber Talent Attraction Conference began at the Shandong International Convention and Exhibition Center in Jinan on March 20, offering more than 30,000 job opportunities from over 2,000 employers, emphasizing the city's ambition to become a leading global talent hub.
The event featured six themed zones showcasing Jinan's strengths. Among them, the Haiyou sci-tech innovation zone was notable, highlighting cutting-edge achievements from leading companies such as Inspur Group, BYD, and Bloomage Biotech. Covering fields from artificial intelligence and biopharmaceuticals to advanced equipment, the exhibition underscored the technological momentum driving the city's industrial upgrade.
To enhance recruitment efficiency, the conference included targeted matchmaking sessions. Executives from more than 50 key enterprises conducted one-on-one interviews, facilitating in-depth exchanges between employers and candidates.
Jinan also used the event to bolster regional collaboration. Through the Jinan–Qingdao high-quality talent development axis and the Jinan Metropolitan Circle, the conference united over 200 enterprises from cities such as Qingdao, Yantai, and Weifang. For those unable to attend in person, three live-streaming studios provided virtual tours of workplaces, extending access to job seekers nationwide.
In addition, a dedicated zone presented Jinan's talent policies and provided career guidance services, helping candidates develop their careers in the city.
Beyond recruitment, the conference highlighted Jinan's livability and cultural appeal. Interactive zones featuring intangible cultural heritage such as dough modeling and paper cutting, along with local specialties like Bazirou pork and tianmo, a kind of porridge, offered participants a glimpse into the city's lifestyle.
Jinan's increasing appeal is reflected in its expanding talent base, which reached 3.1 million by 2025. The city has been named China's annual "best destination for talent attraction" for four consecutive years and recognized as a national talent-friendly city for two years, solidifying its reputation as a preferred destination for professionals.
