Jinan launched its 2026 night tourism season on July 31, aiming to boost the city's night-time economy through a range of cultural and leisure experiences.

The opening ceremony was held at the Tang Dynasty-themed (618–907) Datang Baiquan post station in Zhangqiu district. The campaign focuses on eight areas – night sightseeing, entertainment, markets, dining, accommodation, sports, night classes, and perks – bringing together resources from tourism, retail, sports, and exhibitions to create new nighttime experiences.

During the event, six representatives of attractions including Jinan World's Best Springs Scenic Area and Jinan Sunac Resort showcased new night tours through interactive performances. Immersive shows such as Night Painting of Baotu Spring, along with music events, water activities, and beer festivals, offer visitors more ways to experience the city after dark.

Jinan is also expanding its entertainment and sports offerings at night. The city hosted 1,376 commercial performances in 2025, including 27 major concerts that attracted about 600,000 attendees. In Gangcheng district, the "village tug-of-war" tournament drew more than 100,000 visitors within 10 days of its launch this year, with nighttime spending increasing nearly tenfold year-on-year.

The city's library night school – the first of its kind in China – has also become a hit. It now operates at more than 60 venues, offering over 220 courses.
