Jinan unveils China's first ⅡC-rated robot
China's first bionic quadruped robot with Class ⅡC explosion-proof certification, the highest safety rating for use in hazardous environments, was presented in Jinan on Feb 6.
Named Xiaolu No 1 (HBA1), the robot was made by Halu Robot and fills a tech gap in China's use of quadruped robots for risky industrial situations.
The robot can carry over 100 kilograms and move up to five meters per second over tough terrain. Designed for explosive and flammable situations, Xiaolu No 1 uses a hydraulic drive instead of electric motors, cutting fire hazards. All electrical and mechanical components are sealed in steel for safety.
The project shows deep integration across mechanical engineering, control science, materials science, artificial intelligence, and safety engineering. Backed by over a dozen patents, the team overcame challenges in precision control and explosion-proof design.
Xiaolu No 1 is set to start production in the first half of 2026, marking a new step for intelligent equipment in high-risk industrial applications.
