Construction is gathering pace on a northern China seed industry headquarters base in the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation, a project designed to strengthen agricultural innovation and support the development of China's seed industry.

Several of the base's buildings have already been topped, and it occupies a 41,000-square-meter site with a planned floor area of 190,700 square meters. It will feature advanced research infrastructure, including digital PCR instruments, high-throughput molecular breeding platforms, and intelligent laboratory management systems, providing strong technical support for seed R&D.

Designed around headquarters operations, scientific research, and trading and exhibition services, the base will house a seed industry headquarters center, a public R&D center, and a trading and exhibition center. Dedicated platforms will support the sharing of germplasm resources, evaluation of crop varieties, and exhibitions and trading of seeds and nursery stock.

The base aims to attract leading seed companies and research institutes from China and abroad while fostering an integrated industrial chain spanning breeding, seed multiplication, and commercialization.
