First Jinan-made satellite debuts as local aerospace sector expands
The Jinan Satellite Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) Base has rolled out its first satellite, marking a key step forward for the city's aerospace manufacturing sector.
Operated by Jinan Satellite Industry Development Group under Jigang Group, the facility represents Shandong's first flexible, intelligent satellite production line, filling a critical gap in the city's industry value chain.
The base entered trial production in October 2025. According to Sun Guangting, chairman of the group, the facility is expected to deliver more than 20 satellites in 2026, following the completion of its first unit in January.
With 12 orders already secured, the base is accelerating capacity expansion, targeting annual production of 100 satellites by 2029.
Beyond assembly and testing, the base has provided environmental testing services for major research institutes, as well as satellite data applications in areas such as slope monitoring and agricultural assessment.
Looking ahead, the Jinan Satellite AIT Base aims to further integrate satellite manufacturing with data services, while attracting upstream and downstream enterprises in payloads and core components to build a more complete satellite industry ecosystem.
