City introduction
Joondalup is located on the west coast of Australia, only 26 km north of central Perth, the capital of the state of Western Australia. With Western Australia's second most government agencies in the city, Joondalup covers 96 square kilometers. The city has a population of 161,000, with people under the age of 25 making up nearly 38 percent of the total. It also has 16 km of beautiful coastline.
Joondalup has perfect infrastructure, convenient water and land transport, advanced information technology and the most advanced computer management system in Australia. The city is home to a wide range of educational institutions, including universities, police academies, technical colleges, and continuing education centers.
In recent years, Joondalup has become one of the fastest-growing cities in Western Australia, driven by its abundant natural resources and well-developed infrastructure.
Joondalup and Jinan
John Paterson, chairman of a Joondalup committee, led a delegation to visit Jinan and formally signed a sister-city agreement in September 2004. Since the establishment of the sister-city relationship, the two cities have maintained smooth and active exchanges. Joondalup has sent delegations to Jinan for events such as the international children's festival, the international tourism fair, and the International Spring Cultural Landscape City Alliance Conference for many consecutive years. The two sides have achieved fruitful results in cooperation and exchanges in areas such as culture, education, and urban landscaping.
Bao Zhiqiang, mayor of Jinan, led a delegation to visit Joondalup in August 2005, followed by a delegation led by Gong Xianqun, vice-mayor of Jinan, in 2009. The mayor of Joondalup visited Jinan in 2007, 2015, 2017, and 2019.
