The Shandong University Museum was founded in 1995. It was formerly the Archeological Heritage Room of the History Department of the University. The museum has two centers in Jinan and Qingdao that showcase over 40,000 cultural relics and specimens.

As the main center, the Jinan campus has an exhibition area of 3000 square meters that hosts various themed exhibitions such as a cultural relic exhibition, a SDU history museum and a Jiang Weisong calligraphy art exhibition.

Most of the exhibited cultural items are exquisite cultural relics, excavated by teachers and students of the History Department of the SDU. The most precious treasures in the museum include Dinggong pottery, oracle bone inscription and a bronze square kettle.
