The Bulgarian city of Kazanlak spans 634.8 square kilometers and has a population of about 80,000. It is the tenth largest economic center and traditional industrial city in the country.

Kazanlak has a strong industrial foundation focusing on machinery manufacturing, chemical fibers, textiles and dairy product processing.

Kazanlak is also famous for its art, rose culture and Thracian relics. The city is home to the world's only rose museum and the famous PavelBenya SPA Resort. The Thracian tomb relic spot is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Jinan established sister city ties with Kazanlak in 2013. Over the years, the two sides have strengthened exchanges in the rose industry, especially in essential oil refining and production of related products.

A rose-themed garden featuring the style of Kazanlak was inaugurated in Pingyin county, Jinan on May 6, 2021.

As roses symbolize beauty and tolerance, the garden is a reflection of the enduring friendship between the two sides, said Grigor Polozanov, ambassador of Bulgaria to China.

The sister cities of Jinan and Kazanlak are expected to carry out more cooperation and exchanges in the rose industry in the future.
