New tourism brand in Jinan to boost short-haul travel
Jinan has introduced its new "Weekend Trip to Jinan" tourism brand, positioning the city as a top spot for short-haul travel with better transportation, upgraded tourism products, and better visitor services.
As a national comprehensive transportation hub, Jinan has made a convenient "three-hour travel circle" connecting major economic regions like the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area and the Yangtze River Delta. The city's growing transportation network is further supported by Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport, serving 84 destinations during the 2026 summer–autumn flight season, which strengthens connections with domestic and international markets.
With its increasing accessibility, cultural tourism in Jinan is shifting from traditional sightseeing to experience-focused travel. Several new tourism projects have recently opened, including Mingshui Ancient Town, the Shangxin Street cultural area, and the Rumengling Song poetry-themed park, while historic areas such as Mingfu Ancient City and the old commercial port area are undergoing urban renewal.
Building on its signature spring culture, the city has introduced 30 spring-themed experiences alongside diversified tourism products for younger travelers, including concert-themed travel routes and lifestyle activities. International cultural events such as the Jinan International Biennale are also helping to improve the city's cultural standing and tourism appeal.
To improve the overall visitor experience, Jinan has upgraded public facilities and consumer spaces at 67 major scenic areas. The city is also promoting better integration between transportation and tourism by improving connections in airports, high-speed rail stations, metro lines, and major attractions, making travel more convenient and efficient for visitors.
