Jinan International Center for Medical Sciences, founded in July 2017, is a major health industry project of the local government. The center focuses on the R&D of the world’s cutting-edge medical health technologies. It covers medical services, medical education, technological research, medical machinery, the biological medicine industry and rehabilitation care.
It features a cardiac and cerebrovascular center, tumor center, children’s medical center, metabolic disease and blood disease center, reproduction center, ophthalmology center, orthopedic center, rehabilitation center and medical training center. It will also introduce institutions involved in the study of drugs, clinical examination, convention, consultancy, medical insurance and training, and build related apartments, hotels, communities and catering and commercial spaces. It aims to build a large-scale health system that resembles the Houston Medical Center in the United States.
And Jinan will become a cluster for medical science that influences the whole country. The center has signed 144 projects, including the construction of a national medical health big data north center, with an investment of as much as 1.45 billion yuan. The project aims to collect the health data of more than 100 million people in northern China to back scientifc study, products’ R&D and clinical development.
The center is also building a serious disease big data center, cross[1]discipline medical study and application center, China-Japan-South Korea tumor research center and intelligent robots research center. It will also attract more talent, build more than fve academies’ work stations by 2020 and introduce more than 20 high-level research teams.
It also plans to build two general hospitals, 10 specialized hospitals and introduce 100 companies by 2022. Total output value is expected to reach 10 billion yuan. By 2027, the number of specialized hospitals and companies is estimated to reach 30 and 300 respectively. Annual output value will reach 60 billion yuan. By 2030, it will build 10 internationally renowned medical institutions, 100 key industrial projects, attract 10 million visits to receive medical services per year and 400 companies. Annual output value will exceed 100 billion yuan. The center will become a cluster for global high-end medical resources, cutting-edge technologies, international standards, as well as an intelligent and green health zone.
